Night Burial Videos Surface In Tanzania As Magufuli Continues To Downplay The Virus

Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli has been downplaying the severity of the virus in Tanzania after secret night burial videos and pictures of bodies on the street surfaced on social media, spiking fears the pandemic might be spreading undocumented in Tanzania, doctors and political activists claim.

President Magufuli, who has spent most of the pandemic period in his home village in Chato, is one of the few global leaders that have not taken any lockdown measures to curb the spread of the virus.

He has denied the lock-down and urged people that God ‘will see us through’.

On the contrary, night burial videos have surfaced on social media in Tanzania causing some to call into question the president’s claims and fuelling speculations there might be more unreported cases and deaths in the country.

Although not verified, the viral night burial videos show burial proceedings with tight security and gravediggers and pallbearers wearing full protective clothing.

The night burial videos come up amid fears there are rising virus cases in the country’s leadership with three suspected virus deaths amongst parliamentarians in less than eleven days.

Magufuli claimed on Sunday, during his live address, his national laboratory authorities were working with the imperialists and were sabotaging the nation after reports came through with pawpaw (papaya) and a goat testing positive of coronavirus.

He accused the national laboratory of fabricating results.

“We only see them releasing positive, positive, positive, positive results,” he said.

The president, who has in the past asked Tanzania to ‘pray’ the virus away, revealed that he asked his security forces to investigate the quality of the testing kits.

Tanzania has officially recorded 480 cases of Covid-19 and 16 deaths.

Meanwhile, Magufuli has made plans to charter a plane to pick up shipments of ‘Covid-Organics’, a herbal remedy for Covid-19, which is being touted by the president of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina.
