In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old retired police officer was raped by two men in the Ferozepur district of Punjab.
The woman, who retired from Government Railway Police (GRP), hails from Assam. She was stranded in Ferozepur amid the lockdown.
According to a reports the crime took place on May 1st at a shelter where the woman was staying.
The report suggests that the victim was preparing to go to Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu.
The victim in her complaint stated that she was employed with GRP after her husband’s death and retired as sub-inspector.
Police have filed a case of rape against unidentified men.
Meanwhile, the GRP officials have arranged a shelter for the victim.
In April this year, a 53-year-old visually impaired bank manager was allegedly raped at her flat in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal amid the lockdown.
The incident took place in the early hours at a posh Shahpura area of the city. The 53-year-old victim was alone at her home when the crime took place.
The woman’s husband was stranded in Rajasthan due to the ongoing lockdown in view of coronavirus pandemic.
According to the victim’s complaint, she was sleeping in her flat when an unidentified man barged into the room and raped her.
Police said the accused entered the woman’s room through the balcony.
