Supreme Court faults MEC on delegation of powers

The Supreme Court of Appeal sitting in the capital Lilongwe has dismissed several grounds of appeal by second appellant, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and one of it being delegation of powers.

On delegation of powers, the Supreme Court has agreed with the lower court that the Commission cannot at any point delegate its judicial powers to Chief Elections Officer or any officer of the commission.

Justice Rezine Mzikamanda continues to read the ruling in the appeal case where President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and MEC want the Supreme Court to overturn the constitutional court ruling.
