ISAMA Directors call off Sanjika protests to push for schools re-opening

Directors of independent Schools Association Malawi (ISAMA) has called off the peaceful match to Sanjika Palace to force President Peter Mutharika to endorse the proposed July 13, 2020 as the day for schools re-opening.

The protests were scheduled for today at Sanjika Palace.

One of the organizers Mr. Kamanga has confirmed of the development in an interview with press, saying the grouping held a meeting with Blantyre City Council Chief Executive Officer Mr. Chanza who assured them that the schools will re-open on July 13.

The National Planning Taskforce on the Possible Re-opening of Schools, Colleges and Universities recommended to the taskforce on COVID-19 that the schools should re-open on July 13, 2020.

The committee is yet to respond on the matter.

President Peter Mutharika ordered the closure of all schools in the country on March this year to control the spread of Coronavirus which has claimed three four lives in the country at the moment.

Mutharika also ordered a ban on public gatherings of more than 100 people.
