An 11 – year – old boy has died after being hit by a motor vehicle in Mulanje.
He has been identified as Peter Mbewe of Nalifu village, in the area of senior chief Nkanda in the district.
On this fateful day, Wiskes Chamasowa was driving his motor vehicle registration number TO 4759 Toyota Dyna within a village called Matwika.
When he arrived at a certain place, he hit Mbewe who was walking on the left hand side on his way to a political rally.
Following the impact, the victim was taken to Mulanje District Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The driver, Chamasowa 36, hails from Njowe village, Traditional Authority Nsomba in Blantyre.
Police wish to remind all road users including pedestrians to follow road safety rules to avoid similar incidents.
