Indian Man allegedly Beaten To Death On Charges Of Theft

Another man accused of theft was brutally beaten to death by a crowd in Madnawali area of east Delhi. CCTV footage accessed by Times Now show Salman being apprehended and then attacked by locals in Pandav Nagar area which falls in the jurisdiction of Mandawali police station. The horrific incident took place on June 9.

Salman succumbed to his injuries in a government hospital. What is shocking is that locals forced him to confess the crime which was recorded on a mobile phone. “I live in Daryaganj (central Delhi).

I am an addict. I work for Arshad, who runs a welding shop in Noida. I don’t know where they sell the stolen goods. My friend told me to go inside the house,” Salman said in the video which was recorded by locals.

Delhi Police has arrested one suspect in the case. Rajesh Kumar has been booked under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Kumar is the owner of the house from where Salman allegedly went to commit the theft.

Questions are also raised why no medical help was immediately provided to Salman. DCP (East) Jasmeet Singh, however, said, “The man had fallen in a drain and that is why our constables had to pull him with the baton. We took him to the hospital after cleaning him.”

Residents have a different version of the incident. “Locals saw some suspicious movement and spotted a thief. People did not beat him so much that he could have died. Maybe police personnel assaulted him,” said Raman, a resident of the area.

However, a woman differed with this sequence of events. “No one came for Salman’s help. He was mercilessly beaten up and he died,” claimed Radha.

A medical board will conduct the postmortem of Salman. The Police is awaiting the autopsy report. CCTV is being scanned to identify other locals who were part of the crowd that beat Salman to death. More arrests will take place soon.
