Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Justice Chifundo Kachale has said the complaint lodged by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on the attacks of its monitors to the Malawi Police since it’s a crime matter.

Yesterday DPP publicity secretary Nicholas Dausi alleged that sympathizers of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation (UTM) attacked DPP monitors in the central region.

According to Dausi at least 4 of DPP supporters were also abducted by gule wamkulu in Kasiya Lilongwe.

When addressing the media this morning Justice Kachale said the complaint has been reported to the police since matter is criminal.

However the police has said that all matters related to violence have been addressed and those involved in the matter have been arrested.
