Budget: 29 Billion Allocated for Security Agents’ Houses

Minister of Finance Joseph Mwananvekha revealed that government has set aside K29 billion towards the construction of security officers house.

Mwananvekha said this today during the presentation of 2020/2019 financial year budget in Parliament.

According to Mwananvekha, President Peter Mutharika will launch the project next week.

In 2017, Mutharika promised to construct 10, 000 houses Malawi Police Service, Malawi Prison Service, Immigration Department and Malawi Defense Force (MDF) because of the poor housing conditions the officers lived in.

Mutharika promised to construct 3 500 houses for the Malawi Defense Force, 6 000 houses for the Malawi Police Service, 250 houses for the Immigration Department and another 250 houses for the Malawi Prison Service.
