Chilima Says Money for Fresh Presidential Polls Available

Running-mate for Tonse Alliance Saulos Chilima who is also United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader has said funds to be used in the fresh presidential elections are available.

Chilima was speaking at Mpamba Trading Center during his whistle-stop tour in Nkhata Bay district.

In his remarks Chilima, stressed that that Minister of Finance and Secretary to Treasury should not think of cheating Malawians that the country has no funds for elections

“We know that Parliament approved budgets for this year’s elections and the national budget was approved. We hear now that the Minister of Finance and Secretary to the Treasury are saying there’s no money,” Chilima said.

He added; “Please listen to me gentleman, those funds belong to the people of Malawi. Release the funds so people of Malawi can elect a leader of their choice” Chilima said.

Malawians are expected to go to polls on June 23 after the Constitutional Court nullified May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
