Tonse Alliance running-mate Saulos Chilima who is also United Transformation Movement (UTM) president has said the alliance is aiming at making Lazarus Chakwera the sixth president of the country.
Chilima who is also the state vice president said this in Mangochi during whistle-stop tour campaigning for the alliance ahead of fresh presidential elections.
In his remarks Chilima said nine parties that have formed Tonse Alliance put aside their own interest to ensure that Chakwera who is the torch bearer of the alliance and a leader for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) gets the majority votes in the forthcoming fresh presidential polls.
Chilima continued by faulting his boss president Peter Mutharika for accusing the judiciary of robbing his victory and plotting his ouster.
He added Mutharika should remember that the same judges he is accusing were the ones who ruled in favor of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for him to be sworn in during the May 2014 elections.
