MEC Chair Justice Chifundo Kachale Asks Political Parties, Stakeholders Not to Force the Commission to Release Results

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Justice Chifundo Kachale has appealed to political parties and stakeholders not to force the commission to release elections results.

Justice Kachale made the appeal yesterday in Blantyre during the press briefing at the National’s main Tally Centre at College of Medicine sports complex hall.

When delivering his elections preparedness speech, Justice Kachale said it is not called for, for parties and stakeholders to be forcing the electoral body to release elections results when the stipulated 8 days have not expired.

Newly appointed MEC Chair also stressed that during the period, the commission will be processing and addressing queries presented before them.

Kachale further said that the commission still holds the mandate to announce as law requires, saying it is something the commission is taking seriously.
