MMD President Peter Kuwani wants Mutharika, Chakwera disqualified

Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD) President Peter Kuwani has asked the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to disqualify two Presidential candidates in the fresh Presidential polls.

MEC Chairperson Dr. Chifundo Kachale disclosed this during a media briefing currently underway at the Electoral body’s main tally centre at College of Medicine in Blantyre.

According to kachale, Kuwani wants President Peter Mutharika of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF) disqualified on pretence that he did not maintain his runningmate.

Kuwani has also alleged the same on Tonse Alliance candidate Dr. lazarus Chakwera whose runningmate is Dr. Saulos Chilima of United Transformation Movement (UTM).

MMD President has since asked MEC to declare him as winner of the fresh Presidential polls.

Kachale has the commission will meet today to resolve the complaint from Kuwani.
