Mutharika’s Press Secretary Justice Mponda Congratulates Chakwera, Chilima for Pending Victory

Press secretary for President Peter Mutharika Justice Mponda has congratulated Tonse Alliance Torchbearer Lazarus Chakwera and his running-mate Saulos Chilima for the pending victory in the fresh presidential elections.

Writing on his Facebook page Mponda said the Tonse Alliance deserves the victory for it has fought a good fight and the alliance has been paid off.

“I also take a moment to congratulate Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Dr. Saulos Chilima and the entire Tonse Alliance for the victory. You fought well and it has paid off,” said Mponda.

Before congratulating, Chakwera-Chilima pair, Mponda acknowledged Mutharika for giving him an opportunity to work under his administration for the time Mutharika has been in power.

“I came in as a mere journalist but I have come out more of an administrator. A fully grown up man, matured and responsible,” he said.

According to Mponda, Mutharika has made him everything he has come today and that he has learnt to appreciate the magic of working, growing and developing in silence.

He further advised supporters of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to focus on rebuilding the party and work on their shortfalls.

“It has taken an alliance of 10 political parties to defeat you and that’s evident enough that you are a very strong party. You have fallen and risen before. You can rise again from this fall,” he said.

Mponda then urged Malawians to move on saying there is time for everything, development and politics.
