Speaker says electoral reform bills ready for debate on Wednesday

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara said electoral reforms bills are ready and government will circulate them tomorrow for discussion on Wednesday.

Hara disclosed this on Monday afternoon when the house resumed for deliberation on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Friday last week.

She said the bills will determine the date of the fresh presidential election.

The announcement of the Speaker has not pleased the opposition who wants the electoral bills discussion should commence today.

The move has resulted into chaos in the National Assembly.
