A 42 year-old woman has died in a hit and run road accident which occurred on Sunday along the Nchalo-Chikwawa Road.
According to Chikwawa Police Station, Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Dickson Matemba, Eunice Tchale was hit by an unknown vehicle near Kukhala Motel located around Nchalo area on her way to Thom Village from St. Montfort Hospital where she was a guardian to a patient.
“Following the impact, the deceased sustained deep cuts on her head and fractures on both legs.
“Her body was taken to Nchalo Health Centre where postmortem revealed that her death was due to head injuries,” said Matemba.
The district’s deputy police PRO further said the deceased was later taken to Chikwawa District Hospital mortuary for identification by relatives.
Meanwhile, police in the district are warning all road users to follow road traffic rules and regulations when using roads in Malawi.
The deceased hailed from Mafale Village under Traditional Authority Ngabu in Chikwawa District.
