According to Balaka Police Publicist, Felix Misomali, three days before the incident, Noah brought in a 50 Kg bag of maize at the house for food, but he sold half of the maize for beer drinking, a development that did not go well with his wife, Maria Lingisoni, 25.

According the police publicist said Noah pleaded guilty to the count of arson which led to his conviction and subsequent five-year jail sentence.
