Woman arrested for scorching son’s hands over Mk2000

Police in Kasungu have arrested Jessey Kamanga, 41 for allegedly burning her son’s hands on burning charcoal over K2000.

The incident happened on July 20, 2020 at Mbuzi village in area of traditional authority Nthunduwala.

Brief facts are that, the the suspect found the boy with K2000 in his hands which he had allegedly stolen from his father’s room. This didn’t go well with his mother who took a stick and started beating her son. After beating him the woman got hold of the boy and placed his two hands on the burning charcoal.

The boy got heavily burnt in his palms.

After the incident, the family didn’t take the boy to the hospital and it took a well wisher who tipped the police about the incident. Police issued a medical report for the boy to be taken to the hospital and the results will be tendered in evidence.

The woman has been charged with Acts intended to cause grevious harm. She will appear in court soon.
