Man Stabbed To Death For Failing To Open Door After Girlfriend Returns From Drinking Spree

A 24-year old Zimbabwean man died after he was stabbed to death by his live-in girlfriend on Sunday.

According to iHarare , Sithandazile Sibanda age 31 was arrested for the murder of Vain Mohammed. It is alleged that Sibanda stabbed Mohammed once on the back with a knife on Sunday after accusing him of refusing to open the door for her.

Sibanda is a well-known drinker at most of the night clubs in the resort towns of Victoria Falls. It is alleged that Sibanda left home on Sunday morning and went on a drinking spree with her friends at one of the bars in Mkhosana suburb.  Sibanda only returned home late at night and picked up a fight with the late Mohammed who was fast asleep.

The police in Victoria Falls have confirmed the death of the now-deceased Mohammed and the arrest of the suspect who stands accused of murder. Matabeleland North police spokesperson Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese told  New Zimbabwe,

“We received a report of a woman who allegedly stabbed her husband at a house where they were renting on Sunday night. The woman is in police custody and will appear in court for murder.”

“He spent the whole day at home while Sibanda had gone to drink with friends. She returned at night and that’s when a quarrel started with Sibanda accusing Mohamed of not opening the door for her,” said Mkandla.

Sibanda is alleged to have picked and an iron bar and hit Mohammed who was sleeping on the bed.

The two wrestled for the iron bar and he managed to disarm her. She then picked a knife and stabbed him on the back causing his instant death as he bled from the mouth and nose,” added Mkandla

Unfortunately, Mohammed was pronounced dead at 10 pm, and his body was taken to Victoria Falls mortuary. it is yet to be transported to Bulawayo for a post mortem.
