MRA in mandatory use of face masks

Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has embarked on mandatory usage of face masks by all its clients and taxpayers visiting the tax collecting body’s premises.

The development comes barely a week after the Judiciary also introduced a mandatory usage of face masks to all court users.

This has been disclosed in a statement released on Tuesday signed by MRA Commissioner Tom Gray Malata made available to faceofmalawi.

“Following a steady increase in COVID-19 pandemic cases, as announced by the Ministry of Health and Population, all taxpayers and clients visiting premises of Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) are requested to wear face masks.

“Failure to do so will results in the taxpayer not being served and asked to leave the MRA premises,” reads part of the statement.

The Mandatory usage of facemasks also applies to all MRA members of staff, according to the statement.

Malawi has so far recorded over 1,700 cases of COVID-19 with 19 deaths.
