Two dead bodies of missing children found at police station in Kenya

Kenyan Police Station is now a crime scene after a man discovered two decomposing bodies inside a vehicle parked at the police station.

The bodies are of a young boy and a young girl. Athi River police boss Catherine Rigera says that details of the incident leading to the death of the children are still scanty. However, she confirmed that their parents reported them missing on 11th June.

“The parents reported the children missing on June 11, and we have been searching for them since then,” she said.

The girl and boy, both four years of age went missing from their home at KMC Estate, Athi River as they were playing outside their house. Their parents said that they were best friends. They attended the same school and even sat together in class.

After the parents reported them missing, police officers began their search. Their parents also started visiting hospitals and mortuaries looking for them.

Bodies found

A man who had gone to the police station to pick his vehicle is the one who discovered the bodies. Police officers had impounded his vehicle on 4th March after the vehicle was involved in an accident.

He told the police officers that there was a foul smell coming from the boot of his Toyota Belta. On opening the boot, he noticed that there was something wrapped in a black paper bag. The officers opened the paper bag and that is when they noticed the bodies of the two children.

Police officers asked the parents of the children to go identify the two bodies. After they did, they moved the bodies to Chiromo mortuary.

Athi River police boss Catherine Rigera says that they have commenced an investigation into the matter.

DCI takes over

Officers from the DCI Homicide Unit have taken over the investigations. They said they are yet to establish whether the children had any physical injuries because there were no bloodstains.
