Woman arrested for murder in Mzimba

Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody a 21- year old woman, Annie Zimba for being suspected to have murdered Phaskani Ng’oma aged 34.

Mzimba Police Spokesperson, Peter Botha said on the night of Wednesday, July 1, 2020, Ng’oma, who was drunk, insulted Zimba with gravely obscene words as he was passing by the suspects house.

“Zimba got irritated and annoyed with the insults, so she hit Phaskani on the head using a stick,” Botha explained.

He said Ng’oma fell down and became unconscious after which he was rushed to Mzimba District Hospital where he died the following day.

“Post-mortem results from the hospital revealed that death was due to head injuries,” he said.

According to Botha, the suspect will appear in court soon to answer the charge of murder, which is contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.

Both the suspect and the deceased hail from Kamutchayeni Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mabilabo in Mzimba District.
