Girls Impregnated During Corona Holiday Urged to Sit For Exams

School going girls who were in exams classes and have impregnated during the Coronavirus holiday have been urged to return to school and sit for exams.

Ministry of education said this as the Malawi Nation Examination Board (MANEB) has said all is set for this year’s Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) and Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).

Principle Secretary in the Ministry of Education Chikondano Mussa told the press that young girls who are pregnant should not feel ashamed of their pregnancies.

According to Mussa if the pregnancies are in early stages, girls should return to school and prepare themselves for the exams.

Meanwhile Chief Education Officer for Dedza Mr Julius Kamwaza has said that since the school were opened last week Monday most students have not reported to school yet.

Mr Kamwaza has cited early pregnancies, early marriages and COVID19 fears as reasons why some students are yet to report to school.
