Man found with decapitated head of his mother

A 25-year-old man in South Africa appeared in Court on Monday 14 September for the alleged possession of his mother’s decapitated head.

The suspect’s court appearance follows his arrest on Saturday evening, 12 September 2020, at Montshiwastad village, Mahikeng, after members of the Flying Squad acted on a tip-off about a suspect who allegedly killed his mother and was carrying her head in a bag.

On arrival at the scene, the police found the bag in the suspect’s possession.

“During the search, indeed a human head was found inside the bag,” said SAPS Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.
“The suspect allegedly admitted to killing his mother on Monday 7 September 2020, in Hercules, Pretoria. As a result, he was arrested. The suspect will after [his] court appearance today [Monday], be transferred to Pretoria to face a charge of murder,” added Mokgwabone.

The motive of the incident is unknown and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Provincial Commissioner of North West Lieutenant General Sello Kwena applauded the members for their quick response which resulted in the gruesome discovery and the arrest of the suspect. Mokgwabone also said the court decided to permanently transfer the case of possession of a human part to Pretoria (Hercules) where the murder case was opened.

“This means that henceforth, enquiries will be handled by my counterparts in Gauteng,” said Mokgwabone.
