MHC workers stage sit-in to force management to resolve their grievances

Date:

Some workers at Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC) in Lilongwe have staged a sit-in to force management to resolve their grievances.

According to the chairperson of Central Region MHC workers Union, Benson Jere, some of the grievances include failure by management to remit pension funds to pension administrators, failure to complete and implement a functional review which started in 2017 as well as failure by the management to implement a Performance Management system for the past two financial years.

The workers have blocked the entrance to the premises with tree branches and also a big caterpillar has blocked vehicles at the carpark.

Meanwhile, a representative of the workers union is addressing some staff.
