Police in Chileka Blantyre are keeping in custody Kondile Nedi 22, for unlawfully wounding Gladys Mbewe 27, a daughter to Traditional Authority Kuntaja after she had rejected his love proposal at Kuntaja village.
According to the complaint received, on 11th October, 2020 around noon, Miss Gladys went to fetch some water from the village borehole which is situated at Chikuli Trading Centre.
When coming back, she met the suspect along the way who proposed to be in love affair with her but she refused.
The suspect then got angered with the response and started beating the complainant and in the process, stabbed her seriously on the head and left eye before running away.
The matter was reported to Chikuli Police Unit where investigations were carried out and the suspect was successfully arrested.
The suspect is yet to appear before court when all the investigations are completed.
Police in Chileka are reminding the general public to avoid taking law into their hands. There is no offence for any lady to reject a love proposal therefore forcing her to accept is as good as raping her.
Anyone who will be found in this act, shall be brought to book accordingly.
Nedi 27, comes from Galufu Village, Traditional Authority Kunthembwe in Blantyre District.
