Three escom transformers burnt in Dedza

Three Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) transformers have been burnt in Dedza a development that has led to power outages in some parts of the district and erratic water supply.

In charge for ESCOM in Dedza Mr Jackson Phiri has confirmed the reports saying they have reported the problem to their head office and they are waiting for them to install new transformers.

Spokesperson for Central Region Water Board Mr Zephelino Mitumba said the power outages has affected water production in the district as they are losing 216 cubic meters of water per day hence failing to supply enough water to Dedza residents.

Meanwhile, people in Dedza are spending days without water a development that has affected sanitation in their homes and operations at the district hospital.
