A 15-year-old teenager in South Africa has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 76-year-old woman in Manenberg.
It is believed that the boy is related to the victim, and he was arrested mere hours after the incident was reported on Sunday, November 22.
According to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk, the murder was reported by the elderly woman’s son, who stumbled upon her stabbed, half-naked body in her home on Eljieskraal Way.
“According to our reports, the half-naked body was found with multiple stab wounds to the upper body,” Van Wyk said. “We’ve opened a case of murder for further investigation.”
The teen is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court soon. It is yet unclear whether the woman was sexually assaulted.
