Police in Neno have arrested 70 year old for allegedly defiling his 13 year old granddaughter.
Authorities at Neno Police Child protection officer confirmed the development and identified the suspect as Loyce Mchoma.
Austin Kamwendo, an officer at Neno Police said Mchoma is suspected have been committing the crime since October this year.
The development comes at a time where Malawi has joined the rest of the world in commemorating 16 Days of Activism in an effort to fight Gender Based Violence against women and children.
Following the increased cases of rape and development, some stakeholders are calling for stiff punishment for rapists.
