Mchinji Records 31 Percent Increase In GBV Cases, Perpetrators Warned Of Stiffer Punishment

Date:

Mchinji District has registered a 31 percent increase in cases of gender based violence this year, compared to figures recorded last year.

This is attributed to growing cultural beliefs, use of drugs and other illegal substances.

Mchinji Police Officer In-Charge George Mtetemera revealed this yesterday during the launch of the 16 days of activism against gender violence in the district.

Mtetemera warns perpetrators of stiffer punishment once convicted of the offence.
