Chakwera commissions 10,000 Security Institution Housing Project

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday officially commissioned the construction of 10,000 houses for security institutions at a function held at Ipyana in Karonga.

When the President arrived at the site where government is to construct a total of 157 houses, he was welcomed by Paramount Chief Kyungu, government and party officials.

The project will be implemented in phases.

About 4, 000 houses are set to be constructed for the Malawi Police Service and Malawi Defence Force, whilst the Immigration Department and Prison Services have been allocated 1,000 houses each.
