‘Secondary Schools To Emerge Tomorrow Amid Rise Of Covid-19 Cases’ – Ministry Of Education

The Ministry of Education has maintained tomorrow, 4th January, as the day for the opening of primary and secondary schools despite the rise in new Covid 19 cases.

The opening of schools tomorrow marks the start of the 2021 academic calendar which was initially supposed to start in September last year.

The Covid 19 pandemic disrupted the academic calendar as schools were closed in March last year to control the spread of the pandemic.

Now, in a statement, Secretary for Education Chikondano Mussa assures parents, guardians and learners that all Covid 19 protocols will be observed.

Mussa urges learners and teachers to strictly practice hand washing, social distancing and wearing of face masks while in class and school premises.

on Saturday, the country registered 28 new Covid 19 cases as the second wave of the pandemic has largely hit the commercial city, Blantyre.
