CDEDI Demos On Tomorrow, BCC Denies Receiving Petition Over Covid-19

Despite the spike of Covid-19 cases in the country, the Centre for Democracy and Economic Initiative (CDEDI) has said it will hold demonstrations tomorrow in the commercial city of Blantyre.

CDEDI along with Small Scale Business Association, Minibus Drivers Association and Motorcycle Operators announced of their joint peaceful demonstrations during a press briefing in Blantyre.

Among others, the groups are demanding government to review the fuel hike hindering progress financial institution, impounding of motor vehicles and motorcycles over licenses.

According to CDEDI the demonstrations are expected to start from 9 am from the upper stadium, trade fair, to the Blantyre City Council.

However, Blantyre Council has said with the COVID-19 situation they will not accept the petition for fear of infections.
