Man Killed After Being Caught With Neighbour’s Wife

In an incident that has left the farming community of Mvuma in shock, a man allegedly went berserk and fatally assaulted his neighbour after he caught him with his wife in a kitchen.

The publication learnt from The Chronicle that 31-year-old Simangaliso Hondo returned home from Masvingo and found his wife in the company of 30-year-old Munyaradzi Mugwagwa at around 9 PM.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that took place last week Wednesday saying:

Police in Mvuma are investigating a murder case where a 30-year- old male adult died while admitted to Gweru Provincial Hospital after he was assaulted with a log in the head after being caught with another man’s wife in the kitchen at Central Estate in Mvuma.

He added that when Honde returned home unannounced he was enraged by seeing his wife with Mugwagwa and allegedly assaulted him several times on the head with a log.

A misunderstanding arose and the accused went out of the kitchen, took a thick wooden stick intending to assault Mugwagwa. Mugwagwa fled towards a nearby bushy area, said Insp Mahoko.

Honde caught up with Mugwagwa butchered him with a log and dragged him to his homestead.

Honde called Darlington Hlomayi who took Mugwagwa to Mvuma District Hospital. Mugwagwa was further transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he died on January 27, he said.

Inspector Mahoko warned members of the public to avoid the needless loss of life by seeking amicable solutions to settle domestic disputes.

We appeal to members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands as this usually leads to unnecessary loss of life and property. If people disagree, they must approach a third party, the police, relatives or community leaders, he said.
