No electricity for three weeks in Dedza, residents protest

Angry Residents from Dedza Airfield stormed Dedza district council offices this morning to present their grievances over Escom delay to rectify a fault and supply them electricity.

The residents told the press that they have been ‘in the dark’ for three weeks now after a transformer burst.

They argue that thieves have taken advantage of the situation to steal in people’s houses and school children are failing to study in homes due to lack of electricity.

Spokesperson for Dedza District Council, Yohane Bilesi, says Escom has committed to instal a new transformer to supply power to residents at airfield this week.
