In an interview with the publication, Tsitsi Mabwedza said:

“I told my husband to remove his shoes when he was about to sleep on the bed so that he doesn’t make the blankets dirty and he ignored.

“After that he started using the bedroom as a toilet and when I noticed that I tried stopping him and he said it was his house and no one could tell him what to do.

Tsitsi said a misunderstanding ensued with her husband accusing her of lacking respect for him before the latter started assaulting her.

“I was thrown on walls. I tried to run away and he caught me and started hitting my head on stones resulting in my eye being plucked out.

According to the publication, this is not the first time the couple had been fighting before the recent fight they had the previous altercation which prompted them to stay separately for months.

Barnabas said his wife was lacking respect. However, he also added that on the day in question, he does not remember what happened but he remembers that he shouted “vadzimu vangu vasvika’” then he started assaulting her.

He said he was later surprised to see his wife’s eye bleeding. He also added that he doesn’t want people who make him angry because once he is angry he doesn’t know how to control himself.

A witness said Barnabas came from work and passed through the muddy road due to these rains.

His wife told him to remove his shoes which were dirty and he started boasting that no one should tell him what to do in the house.

He later on urinated in the bedroom and all over on the floor before the wife confronted him leading to a fight.

According to H-Metro surprisingly, no police report was made and the couple is still together.
