Police warns of tricksters who use crying baby to steal from homes

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has warned Malawians of thieves who are deliberately leaving a crying baby close to the house during the night with an ill-motive.

MPS National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera sounded the warning in a statement posted on facebook page seen by this publication.

“As robbers and thieves get creative by the day, some are deliberately leaving a crying baby close to your house at night while they hide nearby, armed, ready to attack you.

“When you open your door to find out about the ‘abandoned’ baby, they come out of their hiding, attack and rob you.
Do not fall victim to this trick.” reads in part the statement.

Added the statement: “When you hear a baby crying outside your house at night, do not open the door. Instead, call your nearest police.
