Pupil found dead on neighbor’s farm she disappeared 2 days ago

In Kenya, the body of a missing Standard Six pupil who went missing after attending a funeral has been found on a neighbour’s farm.

Residents of Namuduru sub-location in Samia Sub-County, Busia County woke up to a rude shock on Monday morning when the body of the 17-year-old Immaculate Auma was found after two days of frantic search.

“This girl is reported to have gone missing on Saturday night and her lifeless body has been found today after the family’s fruitless search yesterday,” Namuduru Assistant Chief Josephat Sunday Makokha told reporters.

The girl is suspected to have been kidnapped by an unknown suspect on Saturday night while returning home after attending a funeral in a nearby home.

Makokha condemned the incident and urged parents to be vigilant and know the whereabouts of their children at all times.

Walter Ojwang, the father of the deceased, said that his daughter had gone for a funeral on Saturday but did not come back home.

“I searched for her the whole of yesterday [Sunday] but could not find her,” he said, adding that she was in the company of two other girls who could not tell of her whereabouts.

Ojwang said that he reported the matter to the police station on Sunday night before making a similar report to the school on Monday morning only for her lifeless body to be found at a neighbour’s farm at around 10 am on Monday.

William Okoth, the headteacher of Munyanja Primary School where the teenager was a pupil, said that she was a disciplined student.

“I just pray that investigations be carried out so that the suspect can be brought to book and face the full force of the law,” he said.

The girl is suspected to have been defiled and killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the neighbour’s farm.

Police have launched investigations to unearth the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
