Zimbabwe To Buy 1.2 Million More Covid-19 Vaccine Doses From China

Zimbabwe will buy an additional 1.2 million coronavirus vaccine doses from China at a preferential price, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman George Charamba said on Wednesday.

That would bring to 1.8 million the number of COVID-19 doses being bought from China. Charamba wrote on Twitter:

Zimbabwe is also procuring more vaccines from China at a preferential price. Zimbabwe is set to purchase another 1.2 million doses from China.

… The People’s Republic of China has given Zimbabwe a further 200 000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total donation to 400 000, enough to cover 200 000 Zimbabweans.

Zimbabwe is set to purchase another 1.2m doses from China.

Last week, Zimbabwe received 200 000 doses from the China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and has already started inoculating its frontline workers.

Zimbabwe is expecting to take delivery of 600 000 doses from Sinopharm next week that it has already bought.

China’s ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun said that his country had decided to double its donation of vaccines to 400 000, enough to vaccinate 200 000 people.
