Police fires teargas at angry Saint John’s Primary school learners

The law enforcers this morning used teargas to disperse Saint John’s Primary school learners who took to the street to protest against the ongoing teachers strike across the country.

Teachers across the country want the Tonse Alliance government led by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to provide them with COVID-19 risk allowances as is the case with doctors and others in the country.

The learners invaded the M1 road and they closed the road with tree branches and huge stones, making the road impassable.

The development forced law enforcers to intervene by firing teargas at the learners. The teargas also affected learnes from Biwi Community Day Secondary School in Lilongwe.

Meanwhile tension is high in Lilongwe.
