One Dies In Blantyre Road Accident

One person has died in a Bus accident this morning along Masauko-Chipembere highway in Blantyre.

Blantyre Police Public Relations Officer, Augustus Nkhwazi has confirmed the incident.

According to Nkhwazi the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number BT 7093 Higer bus which was being driven by Yamikani Maluwana whose other details are currently not available.

“He was driving the vehicle from the direction of Clock Tower heading Ginnery Corner along Chipembere highway,” Said Nkhwazi.

Adding that “Upon arrival at Kristwick bus stage, he lost control of the vehicle. He was thrown off the vehicle before it fell on top of him.”

The driver was confirmed dead on arrival at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital.

A postmortem is yet to be conducted to establish cause of death.

The bus got extensively damaged in the front.

Meanwhile, Nkhwazi has said that investigations have been instituted by Blantyre traffic Police to establish the cause of the accident.
