Babu Khamisa arrested for not wearing mask

Police on Tuesday arrested Babu Khamisa Mulanje District Council Hall where Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) set up its tally centre for the Chitakale Ward by-election.

Khamisa is allegedly to have walked into the hall without wearing a mask,and did not heed advice when asked to wear a mask by the law enforcers.

He is likely to be charged with an offence of contravening COVID-19 measures set by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Khamisa is Deputy National Director of Research in Malawi Congress Party (MCP), a party in Tonse Alliance led by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

MEC on Tuesday held by-elections in 7 constituencies and two Wards across the country.
