MALAWI ELECTRICITY GETS A 19.1 MEGAWATTS BOOST

Malawi has added an extra 19 megawatts to its power grid following the completion of the Tedzani 4 power station project.

The country’s Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) through contractor Çalik Enerji is finalizing works on the new power plant.

Generation trials conducted on the new plant have revealed that the plant has managed to generate 19.1 megawatts of electricity, according to EGENCO.

The project which started in July 2018 is expected to help ease the country’s power challenges as it will increase the national power capacity.

Currently, Malawi has a power generation capacity of 439 megawatts.
