Tanzanian star Diamond Platinumz has been nominated for the Best International Act prize in the upcoming BET Awards 2021.
He will be battling against other African artists including Nigeria’s BurnaBoy and Wizkid.
BET awards aims to recognize black excellence across music, television, film, and sports to showcase the best, brightest, and most beautiful aspects of the black experience.
This year’s event will be aired on Sunday, June 27 with a live show audience from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Among other top nominees include rappers Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Cardi B and Drake.
In the last year’s event held virtually, Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones earned his first nomination in the Best International Flow category.
Although he lost it to UK’s Stormzy, Khaligraph noted that it was one of his greatest achievements in his career.
