Minister of Finance and Economic Development Felix Mlusu has announced that government will this year introduce a duty free week of goods up to USD 3000.00 (which is equivalent to about 2.4 million kwacha).

He says the dates for the duty free week will be gazetted later for Malawians to prepare and benefit from it.

The move, Mlusu said, will help boost growth of small businesses.

The announcement has attracted ululations from MPs from the government side in the August House.

The duty free week is one of the Tonse Alliance campaign promises.
