33 Tobacco Commission workers fired

Tobacco Commission (TC) has fired 33 of its staff after a personnel audit revealed that they were recruited without following procedures.

According to information at hand, the audit revealed that, among others, the employees were recruited without undergoing interviews.

A highly placed source has revealed that the affected include David Jose, son to former Inspector General of Police Rodney Jose and Sherepher Banda who is a daughter to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey.

Both TC Board Chairperson Harry Mkandawire and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chidanti Malunga have refused to comment on the matter.

A communication from Malunga, however, tells employees that the results of the audit are indeed out and will be communicated to employees individually.
