President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has challenged the CCAP Church to take the lead in fostering the change that Malawians want.

Dr  Chakwera was speaking at Kafita CCAP Church of the Nkhoma Synod in Area 23, Lilongwe where he presided over the Golden Sunday Service at the  Church.

During the ceremony, the President read a passage on Abraham from the book of Genesis chapter 17 verses 15 up to 27.

In his address, Dr Chakwera appealed to the gathering to observe COVID-19 preventive measures.

“A day before yesterday, I took a second jab of AstraZeneca which is a vaccine against the disease, I urge you to do the same as a way of controlling the disease,” said Dr Chakwera.

The Malawi leader further said he knows the background of the Church and thanked its leadership for ensuring that the church grows.

“The growth of the church means that the word of God is being spread far and wide and in return, the country will have morally upright people who will not indulge in corruption and various forms of injustice,” said  Dr Chakwera.

He then appealed to the church to take a leading role in fighting the ills of society.

The President has since donated K1 million which according to the leadership of the church will go towards the purchase of musical equipment.

In his remarks, Vice Moderator of NKhoma Synod, Reverend Phillip Kambulire, said the President’s decision to join the worship at a CCAP Church though he belongs to the Assemblies of God, speaks volumes of the unifying factor being advanced by the Malawi leader.
