KCF employee Adil Patel granted bail for assaulting female guard

A 31-year-old KFC employee, Adil Patel, who is of Indian origin, has been granted by the Lilongwe Magistrate Court.

Patel was arrested for allegedly assaulting a female guard at the company’s City Mall premises in Lilongwe.

He is said to have committed the crime on June 5, 2021 and the video of the incident was widely shared on social media, which attracted mixed reactions from the public.

Patel pleaded not guilty to the assault charges.

Before granting bail to the accused, the presiding magistrate ordered the suspect to surrender his travel documents, pay K10,000 cash bond and a surety with a non-cash bond of K300,000.

The court has further ordered him to refrain from interfering with the state witness, report to the nearest police station every Tuesday and never leave Lilongwe before seeking permission from Police.
