Fight Over Sex Almost Lands Woman In Jail

A fight over sex almost landed a 28-year-old Bulawayo woman in jail after her ex-boyfriend reported her to the police.

Chida Mamvura reportedly turned down her ex-lover’s sexual advances and went on to assault him after he allegedly suggested that he could pay her US$10 for sex.

Chida appeared for trial before Western Commonage resident magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja facing a physical abuse charge, B-Metro reports.

It is in the States case that on an unspecified date, Chida invited her ex-lover Sifelani Jama (38) who is a nurse stationed at Mpilo Central Hospital to her birthday party at her family home in Entumbane suburb.

They reportedly consumed alcohol at the party until they got drunk.  While drunk, Jama asked for doggie-style sex, but she turned him down.

It is alleged that Jama who could not take no for an answer,  persisted saying he would pay her US$10. However, that rubbed Chida the wrong way, causing her to boil with anger.

The court heard that, in a fit of rage, Chida grabbed Jama and hit him with fists all over the body.

Jama sustained wounds on the head and mouth.

He reported the matter at Entumbane police station leading to the arrest of Chida.

In her defense, Chida said:

“He asked for sex, I refused, but he persisted saying he would pay US$10, I maintained my stance. I think that angered him because he slapped me in the face and I had to retaliate because he was getting violent.”

However, after a full trial, Chida was found guilty and was sentenced to serve five months imprisonment of which three months were suspended on condition that she does not within that period commit any offense of which violence is an element for upon conviction.

The remaining two months of imprisonment were further suspended on condition that she performs 70 hours of community service at Zulukandaba primary school in Entumbane suburb.
