Man Jailed 21 Years Imprisonment For Defiling 10 Year Old Girl

A 26-year-old man, Timothy Chinthenga, has been sentenced to 21 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 10 year old girl.

Before, Senior Resident Magistrate court in Limbe, state prosecutor Jacqueline Kakhiwa heard that the convict had on September, 20, 2020 defiled the girl in a bush near Bangwe tavern.

Kakhiwa said the victim was going home together with her brother, when they met the convict at Bangwe Inn.

He gave her K2, 000 and a wrist watch to arrival at a place near Bangwe tavern, he dragged both of them into a nearby bush where he defiled the girl in the presence of her younger brother.

After committing the offence, he escaped but well-wishers managed to apprehend him and brought him to Bangwe police where he was put in custody and charged with defilement an offence that contravenes Section 138(1) of the Penal code.

The accused however denied the charge levelled against him prompting the state to parade 5 witnesses, who proved him guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Timothy Chinthenga comes from Wisiki village in the area of Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.
