DPP Candidate Frosie Elizabeth Hela wins Chikwembere Ward

Unofficial results from Chikwembere Ward by-elections in Blantyre rural show that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate, Frosie Elizabeth Hela, is leading with 1681 votes seconded by United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Jacks Nkhoma with 658 votes.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate Wyson Makungwa is coming third with 565 votes and UTM Party’s Nelson Kalumbi is in fourth with 445 votes.

Two independent candidates Joyce Chinkwita and Samson Ben have scored 172 and 70 votes respectively.

The unofficial results further reflect a voter apathy as the ward had 17, 959 registered voters.
